A Kwale court has sentenced Athumani Juma to life imprisonment for defiling a seven-year-old boy.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said Juma, a water vendor known to the child, lured the seven-year-old to his house with the promise of sweets before sexually abusing him
The agency said the accused subsequently threatened the boy against revealing what had happened, causing him to remain silent about the incident for several days.
The case came to light on June 14, 2025, when a relative noticed the child’s troubling physical condition and sought an explanation.
The sentence was delivered on October 5, 2026, at the Msambweni Senior Principal Magistrate’s Court after the prosecution proved the case beyond reasonable doubt.
