Confirmed facts
Each fact is a sentence from a source that at least two independent outlets report.
The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki, said the purported letter was fabricated and intended to mislead the public and damage the governor’s reputation for fiscal discipline.
In a statement issued in Kaduna on Saturday, Maiyaki said the document, dated October 18, 2026, and titled “Notification for Preparations for the Grand Rally Flag Off,” contained several inconsistencies that raised questions about its authenticity.
Maiyaki said the governor neither authored nor authorised the document, adding that no such amount was budgeted, approved or released for the event.
He also cited the misspelling of the governor’s surname as “Uba Sai” and the apparent unauthorised reproduction of his signature as evidence of possible fabrication.
He said the administration had prioritised fiscal discipline, transparency and accountability since Sani assumed office on May 29, 2023, with spending focused on security, infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture and social protection.
