Power cut at Stansted Airport causes ‘security queues of up to two hours’
A spokesperson for Stansted Airport said: ‘Due to an earlier power surge that has affected the airport and local area, a number of airport systems were temporarily impacted.
The disruption threw evening travel plans into disarray, with services between London Waterloo and Exeter St Davids among those affected.
Passengers travelling between Woking and Basingstoke were warned that trains could be cancelled, severely delayed or routes altered.
“Disruption following the police dealing with an incident between Woking and Brookwood has now ended,” it said.
